With another new year quickly on its way I find myself reflecting back to last spring and one of my garden gates. All of our birdhouses were occupied with nests and the flower shoots were starting to peek out of the ground. Our hand raised baby caterpillars were eating like little pigs fattening up in preparation to cocoon. It was setting up to be another beautiful summer. Which brings me back to my original topic of one of my garden gates. We have several arbors and gates throughout our property, they serve to divide the different gardens and places that we allow our dog to roam freely in. However, there is one particular garden gate that goes out to the woods – a serene forest that appears never-ending and leads to a flowing river. It’s a very active forest with a lot of wild life residing outside this gate…deer, groundhogs, rabbits, coyote, fox, bear, turtles, wild turkeys, owls, cranes and way too many other birds to list. It’s this gate in the picture that I can become lost deep in my thoughts when sitting in this one particular garden. It becomes a magical garden gate where I can wind up anywhere my imagination takes me – I’ve been on some enchanting journeys when I venture through this gate in my minds eye. The way I become lost in my thoughts with this garden gate is how I’m feeling about the coming new year. It’s like venturing through a new gate with endless possibilities. I don’t know quite what lies ahead, but I’m eager and excited to find out where the new year gate might lead to.
The New Year Gate…
