For Mother’s Day, I fly a garden flag on my house that depicts a gardenia and a butterfly because “Gardenia” was my mom’s nickname and a big beautiful butterfly appeared to me on the day she died…long after the butterflies of summer had gone.
We both had a fondness for butterflies. My mother loved the song…”Poor Butterfly” by Sarah Vaughan, she wore out playing the record from the time I was 5 years old. We both had an original Gutman print of “The Butterfly.” Being a believer in the connection between butterflies and the afterlife I believe one appeared to me as a sign she was alright.
Can our spirit take on the appearance of a butterfly before we leave this world? I’d like to think so.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY !!!
