The best way to avoid a lifetime of sibling rivalry is to prevent it right from the start when bringing the new baby home. Let older siblings help out with their new sister or brother. Be sure to allow time for the older siblings as well. Every child is individual, none are the same. Some children will be better in some things than others, but each child has his or her strong points and weak spots. Allow children to shine in whatever it is they are individually good at. NEVER make comparisons between children and ALWAYS praise each child for their own special talents. Accept each child for who they are.
